TENEMENT JAZZ BAND
Winners of the 'Best Band' category at 2022's Scottish Jazz Awards - a truly authentic traditional jazz outfit. Formed in 2018, TJB now tour the length and bredth of the UK winning over audiences with their youthful energy. In the band's infancy I played 6-string guitar banjo and from project to project I sit in with them on New Orleans-style stride piano.
Playing their 100 year old Challen pianola, I join members of band on the 3rd Thursday of each month at The Argyle Cellar Bar in Marchmont, moonlighting as The Argyle Rhythm Aces.

GREYFRIAR'S
SOCIETY ORCHESTRA
An offshoot of the Tenement Jazz Band, comprising a larger lineup including drums, doublebass and piano. The Greyfriar's Society Orchestra is a little looser and more ragged - yet another project focusing on high quality trad jazz. You'll catch us down the Argyle, the Jazz Bar, or at the Edinburgh Jump & Jive Club.

TRAVELLING TENT SHOW
Acclaimed singer Nicole Smit takes us back in time with a show celebrating the music of the pioneers of blues and jazz; an all-star cast recreating the vaudeville theatre of an American institution for the modern age - The Travelling Tent Show.
Nicole Smit (Blueswater, Smitten, The Backup Crew) is joined by Tenement Jazz Band (Scottish Jazz Awards 'Best Band' winners, 2022) and Edinburgh gospel singer Kat Brooks (The Phoenix Choir) to present the music of legendary blues singers like Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith, who shot to fame and fortune through travelling tent shows - music about love, loss, hardship and joy, which resonates as much today as it did in 1930. The show was a sell-out on debut at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival 2022, with a weekend residency in the intimate Piccolo Tent (capacity 150).
Throughout the turn of the 21st Century, tent shows toured America, presenting the best of theatre, music and circus to rural audiences. With an all-star cast, dancers, and interaction, the Travelling Tent Show is a must have concert for any festival or theatre with either a black-box space or outdoor tented stage.
TRAD RAGS TRIO
For this more versatile outfit, I'm joined by Tenement Jazz Band pioneer Simon Toner on Doublebass, and our featured guest horn.
Trad Rags Trio enjoys the more intimate setting of swing dance clubs, lindyhop exchanges and speakeasys like the Malt & Hops down The Shore.
