FLEX
Powerfunk quartet featuring Harry Higgs(Guitar), Dougie Coulter(Bass) and Ben Collard(Drums). FLEX features my Fender Rhodes which, it was discovered after its restoration during 2020 lockdown, is a hybrid of at least 3 seperate pianos of various marks and years.
Repertoire includes a collection of 80s funk and pop (Michael MacDonald, Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire), as well as some classic 70s funk (Maceo Parker, The Meters, Funkadelic).
Did someone say, "Yacht Rock"?

READY PLAYER 7

Drummer Vid Gobac launched his new band at November 2023's Jazz Weekend. Commisioned by the Edinuburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, Ready Player 7 takes the much loved themes from classic video games such as Zelda Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Brothers, Mario Kart, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter 2 and Castlevania to name a few, and reinterprets them through a plethora of musical styles including samba, funk, and heavy rock.

DeLorean is a cyberband launched during the COVID pandemic. As lockdown 2020 slowly became lockdown 2021 and the world was tentatively opening up, my work with the StreamCycle team was finally getting some tangible results. Mark II of StreamCycle saw the launch of 2 new cyberbands; Zeitgeist - a 7-piece vehicle for fortnightly guest singer-songwriters from across the globe; and its counterpart, DeLorean - featuring Ben Collard(Drums), Dougie Coulter(Bass), Andy Chisholm(Guitar) and Chuck Dearness(Trumpet).

The StreamCycle cyberbands were an opportunity to reconnect with many musicians after so long apart. Almost a full album's worth of new material was composed for these gigs which was performed live from 5 different locations across the UK. DeLorean also focused on some new methods of live improvisation, yet untested on the StreamCycle platform.

Although the band is not active post-pandemic, there are plans for live performances in the future.
