For the past few months I've been working hard to move The Katet's mammoth album, Alaska, a little closer to completion. I wrote the album 10 years ago about my experiences travelling the globe on my honeymoon, and about my four month residency on the Star Princess Cruise Ship in 2017. COVID obviously stalled the entrire process and then the 'cost of living' and the ridiculous diffiucuilties that faced all musicians when returning to work in the following years meant I had no money to fund the project. And no possibility of any external funding either... However, I persevered and having completed all lead vocals at the end of last year, the album is all but done. The only thing left is the CHOIR!

I've asked a select group of close friends who also happen to be the top lead singers in the city and beyond to form a one-off Katet Choir. We head into Castlesound Studio later in March to finish the tracking on the entire album. Then it'll be back to saving my pennies until I can afford the expert mixing talents of Garry Boyle at Slate Room Studios. It's been an incredibly long time coming - and in a way a lot of this music was created by people who don't exist anymore. However, that doesn't mean that the work itself, this incredibly dense and involved piece of music, won't blow your mind.

We're looking forward to organising and announcing a very special, immersive listening party for any and all fans of the band and the project.

Watch this space! And thanks x
