New Orleans Piano NEWS!

Trad Jazz Piano remains alive and well in Edinburgh. Here's what I've been up to with New Orleans Piano:

For the past year or so I've been playing every Thursday night down at Mathers on Broughton Street from 6-8pm. I moved my beloved Benedict upright up there from Leith Arches when I moved on from their Sunday Session. Now it sits happily for musicians and punters alike - anyone who fancies a bash.

My plan remains to get as many upright pianos into Edinburgh pubs, cafés and venues as possible, and to make sure they all get played.

Go ahead and visit my NEW ORLEANS PIANO webpage for more details if you're interested in getting involved...

The next major advancement for me with my stride piano playing is the arrival of my brand new Keyboard X1 portable acoustic piano. What this means for the project is that I’ll be able to take an actual piano with me for these kinds of gigs where there isn’t one available. This will be perfect for touring with the likes of Tenement Jazz Band, but also for offering TASTER sessions to pubs/venues who might be interested.

The feel and sound of a real acoustic piano, when it comes to playing this style authentically, is by far superior to any keyboard that can replicate a piano sound. I can’t wait to play it for the first time. More on this soon hopefully…
