The Katet's 2024 is looking busy with gigs, recording production and arrangements. Here's what we're up to:

Our fringe shows, The Katet Vs. John Williams and The Katet Vs. Stevie Wonder will take on this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival and we're planning ahead for appearances outside of the Fringe in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen for sure.

Our originals albums, Alaska and Jigsaw remain works in progress. Alaska is pretty much tracked apart from vocals and our choir, which will be put together this year. The band have outdone themselves with this dense and complex music and we've captured awesome performances all round. Jigsaw(the working title!) still needs a mountain of editing since we composed the thing on the spot in the studio, so I'll be chipping away at this throughout the year from home. After the editing process, I'll be composing horns parts and lyrics...
Work begins soon on a series of new Vs. shows. I've been planning for some time to tackle a year in pop music and was drawn initially to the 90s. After a ton of research and musical exploration, I landed on the year 1997 and this show was scheduled to launch in the summer of 2027, 30 years on.

However... I began to look into the possiblity of other years in music as it was such a shame to leave behind so many bangin' tunes that the Katet would absolutely knock out of the park. So, to cut a long story short, this year I'll be embarking on a mammoth 3 show campaign.
Launching first in summer 2025 is The Katet Vs. 1995. The following year, a brand new show, The Katet Vs. 1996, and then finally The Katet Vs. 1997 in 2027. The shows will be part of our 90s Series, a trilogy that will explore the pop music that was released and that charted in these years. Researching these new shows has got me fired up. I'm gonna arrange them as a single entity so that all 3 shows will flow and feel right together, however, they will also kick-ass as stand-alone concerts.
Looking forward to sharing more in the coming months...
